Saratoga Springs, New York --- ThoroFan’s 4th Annual Awards Brunch sponsored by Red Brand Fence Company is set for January 15, 2016 at Gulfstream Park Casino and Racetrack. The brunch is the only fan specific event during Eclipse Awards Week. The ThoroFan Award recipient for 2016 is Tom Durkin, world renowned race caller and announcer. Tom retired from the New York Racing Association in August of 2014 after 43 years calling races. In addition to the voice of the New York tracks, Tom called the Triple Crown and the Breeders’ Cup for a number of years. Many fans today grew up hearing Tom’s voice-over calls of the most prestigious races in the country. His command of language and quick wit enhanced race watching or listening, even if he never mentioned the horse you bet on.

As in the last two years, the program will also present the Horse Racing Nation’s Timothy “Tiznow” Reynolds Fan of the Year Award and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s Moment of the Year Award.

A Special Recognition Award will be given to Bob Baffert for his extraordinary work in supporting aftercare for horses when their racing days are over and in helping build the fan base. Bob has quietly been a philanthropist for causes supporting the retirement of our track heroes. With his campaign of American Pharoah to a Triple Crown win he, through his social presence and commitment to racing, brought thousands of new fans to our sport.

The brunch will be held at Frankey’s Sports Bar at Gulfstream Park and will begin with registration at 10:00 a.m. A full gourmet buffet menu will be offered followed by award presentations. There will be photo and autograph opportunities for fans to have followed by a day of racing. Tickets will go on sale on November 9th on the ThoroFan website and at specific track locations. Seating will be on a first buy basis.
