REPORTS TO: Equine Group Vice President
LOCATION: Fort Worth, Texas
SALARY: Salary with comprehensive benefits package
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Group Publisher is responsible for managing and overseeing fiscal expectations and operations for Morris Equine Group’s media brands which currently include Western Horseman, Quarter Horse News, Barrel Horse News, Western Lifestyle Retailer and Western Horseman Books. This position will manage the business functions for the group including financial analysis, budgeting, human resources and day-to-day operations. This position is also responsible for developing new ideas for products and services to enhance audience reach and revenue streams. The Group Publisher is responsible for creating a culture that embraces new ideas, creativity and innovation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with strategic planning and program development to achieve marketing and sales goals for each brand
Meet financial expectations including development and management of budgets and expenses
Ongoing analysis of expenses to ensure group’s goals and objectives are being met
Analyze ongoing operations providing forecasts to management to ensure cash flow is met
Manage and approve staff expense reports and vendor invoices
Assist with the monthly closing process ensuring all revenue and expenses for the individual brands has been properly accounted for
Prepare and verify monthly commission payments
Prepare various administrative and financial reports as needed by Vice President or corporate management
Help recruit and maintain a talented, high performing and efficient staff
Develop, implement, and facilitate on-going training and employee development
Review the progress and coordination of projects with staff members to ensure successful implementation and results
Help formulate and manage policies and procedures
Plan, organize and direct resources for publications, websites, events, and social media platforms
Help Vice President identify and develop new revenue streams through adjacencies including but not limited to events, supplements, specialty interest publications, bookazines, books, products and digital initiatives
Data analysis & reporting for special projects including events, products, supplements, ecommerce
Manage e-commerce for products including relationships with vendors
Serve as liaison between brands and production to ensure guidelines and deadlines are met
Works closely with ad order entry personnel to ensure advertisers are current and credit policies have been adhered to
Work with designated corporate accounting department staff to resolve billing errors and issues

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college
Candidates should have overall 5+ years of business experience, preferably in print media
Must possess excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
Must have knowledge of accounting
Must have strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills
Must possess excellent written and verbal skills
Working knowledge of all functions within a publishing organization
Broad knowledge of the latest digital marketing technologies
Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
