Essential Functions
Assist the Publisher and Editorial team on the development of timely, entertaining content; posting regularly to multiple social media accounts
Write, assign and edit content for publication/web site/social media
Writing SEO-value headlines for posts and selecting appropriate photos
Recruit other talented content generators for multimedia initiatives
Establish and maintain relationships with major players in the business
Work with Ad Sales to create branded content and revenue opportunities
Act as Editor-in-Chief’s proxy when needed
Be an Equine subject matter expert who can coordinate with Marketing, Ad Sales and IT departments
Attend shows as needed
This position is eligible to work from any location
Competencies and Key Skills
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred
4+ years’ experience as an Editor at a notable content provider preferred
Established knowledge of the current media environment and the Equine media/competitors
Must be a passionate horse enthusiast (any discipline)
Demonstrated ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
Documented excellent written and verbal communication skills
Intermediate to expert knowledge and experience with all social media platforms, CMS, and Photoshop
Must be self-motivated, goal-driven, and demonstrate ability to work well alone or as part of a team
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $50,000 to $55,000/year
