World-Class Footing and Infrastructure Improvements for 2016 Season
On the heels of a banner inaugural year, HIPICO Santa Fe is proving its commitment to its continual improvement strategy - enhancing the facility to bring the very best in equestrian competition for 2016. The strategic improvements to the footing and infrastructure of the campus in preparation for the A-rated 2016 Santa Fe Summer and Fall Fun Series exemplify HIPICO’s vision of a world-class facility in the heart of the southwest. “The experience of our clients – the exhibitors, trainers, owners, vendors, and sponsors – is what matters most. We are committed to evolve as an exceptional facility and provide our patrons with true value and a superior horse show experience,” Guy McElvain, one of HIPICO Santa Fe’s owners emphasizes. “Staying true to our mission means getting better every year.”
HIPICO has worked closely with arena footing partner, GGT Footing, to enhance and improve the footing mixture, with stability and resilience in mind. Extensive testing and studies of the arena footing mixture have been conducted, including consideration of the source of the sand, to insure optimal binding with the textile material, resulting in the best mixture for competition on the venue. This optimum footing mixture will be in place before the start of the 2016 season.
In addition, new grass competition rings have been added to allow for rotation during the circuit and to give more competitors the opportunity to compete on the turf. HIPICO Santa Fe’s grass rings are currently on a carefully scheduled rotation of aeration, sanding, seeding, irrigating and fertilizing in preparation for the 2016 show season. This maintenance program deepens the roots of the grass and, over time, enhances the durability and consistency of these distinctive turf competition rings.
In other developments, the competition arenas have been consolidated to improve traffic-flow efficiency throughout the venue for all clients. The bridge over the arroyo will be widened and designated horse-only bridle paths stretch the length of the campus to facilitate easy access to the competition and schooling areas.
