USEA Area VIII Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, Georgetown, Kentucky, January 4-5, 2020. This year the Area VIII Annual Meeting will be a combined Midsouth Eventing & Dressage Association (MSEDA) and USEA Area VIII Annual Meeting.

Winter Equestrian Festival, Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, Wellington, Florida, January 8 - March 29, 2020. Watch the show jumping and hunter competitions which start at 8:00AM each day and runs throughout the day. There are shopping opportunities galore and fabulous food vendors too so relax and enjoy!

Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale, Lexington, Kentucky, January 13 - 16, 2020. Keeneland's January Horses of All Ages Sale is noted for high-quality broodmare prospects and short yearlings (horses born the previous year) and for being among the final opportunities for breeders to obtain stock as breeding season nears.

Southern California Arabian Horse Association, Los Angeles Equestrian Center, Los Angeles, California, January 17 -19, 2020. On one hand, horse racing has accomplished so much in a short amount of time in its quest to take care of Thoroughbreds leaving the track. On the other, there's still a long way to go. In the face of funding shortages, the complex legal, logistical, and ethical issues of the horse slaughter pipeline, and a mass influx of horses in need, what can the industry do better? John Phillips, president of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA), said the first step is to define the problem. For one thing, we need better data to understand how many Thoroughbreds find themselves in need, including the number in the slaughter pipeline.
