When we watch our favorite Thoroughbreds race, very few of us ever think about how it started out in life. Some of our racehorses became orphaned soon after foaling and had to depend on a nurse mare. NYBREDS.com’s Tracy Egan recently visited a farm about five miles from Saratoga Race Course, where some older mares are being given a chance to become a nurse mare - without producing a foal!
