Over 170 equine organizations are competing to win some of the $150,000 available in #HelpAHorse grant prizes and donated Conair supplies

June 25, 2019 NEW YORK–The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that Conair Corporation (Conair®) has generously donated more than $300,000 in grooming supplies, including trimmers, clippers, brushes combs and picks, to be added as prizes in this year’s Help a Horse HomeSM: ASPCA Equine Adoption Challenge. More than 170 equine rescues, shelters, and sanctuaries are competing in this year’s challenge, which has been expanded to include four divisions and multiple ways to win, including a grand prize and prizes for social media totaling $150,000 in grant funding. Conair’s donated supplies will be awarded to the 10 contestants in each division that have the highest increases in adoptions. Prize packages will range from approximately $2,000 to $6,000.

“The Help a Horse Home contestants are already heading to set new adoption records, and these prize packages will help assure that the momentum stays high until well after the contest ends. We’re excited to be able to help outfit contestants’ barns with these useful products—and the prize packages will be substantial enough that winners can share the wealth with adopters, foster homes and more!” said Dr. Emily Weiss, Vice President of Equine Welfare for the ASPCA. “The ASPCA is dedicated to supporting the many groups around the country working to help more horses find loving homes, and we are grateful to Conair for their generous donation.”

To build on the success of the 2018 Help a Horse contest, in which equine organizations adopted out more than 1,000 horses, the 2019 challenge has been reimagined and renamed — Help a Horse Home: The ASPCA Equine Adoption Challenge – with $150,000 in grant funding available to equine rescues, shelters and sanctuaries who secure the biggest increase in adoptions compared to the previous year. Any U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organization or governmental agency capable of receiving grant funds and fulfilling an animal welfare or protection mission that adopts out horses or other equines is eligible to participate. Participants are invited to promote their equines on My Right Horse, a new listing site created by The Right Horse Initiative for equines in transition, and for every equine adopted during the two-month challenge period, Zoetis US LLC will donate one of its CORE EQ Innovator™ vaccines, up to 1,500 vaccines.
