Dick Riseling owns Apple Pond Farm, about two hours from New York City in the Catskill Mountains. For more than 25 years they farmed with draft horses, Belgians and North American spotted draft horses. In 2003 they installed renewable energy systems and now the farm produces about 95% of its own electricity per year. The farm is open for vacation rentals "to connect our guests to the natural world and experience a bit of farm life". They have educational programs for Kids, various classes about making cheese, spinning wool for weaving and renewable energy.
