Changing Lives One Ride at a Time

Who We Are

CHAMP is a volunteer-driven, donation-based, 501(c)(3) organization.  CHAMP program fees paid by participants comprise only 25% of the costs of the program.  Over 75% of CHAMP program expenses are covered by donations and grants. Founded in 1987 we have been serving the VT community successfully for over 30 years.

What We do

Through the joy and healing power of horses, we enrich and improve the lives of children and adults with physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral challenges.

The CHAMP program offers unique benefits to participants that often cannot be achieved by other means.  Research has shown – and more importantly our participants testimonials report – that equine assisted therapy reduces anxiety, increases communication, impulse control, and problem-solving skills, and provides complex physical therapy benefits in a fun and empowering way.  CHAMP is the only therapeutic program within 75 miles in Vermont.

Affordability

We rely on volunteers and donations to make our program accessible to all people.

Inclusivity

We offer an environment and programs which include both able-bodied and individuals with disabilities or other challenges, fostering inclusivity, respect and acceptance.

Achievement through Fun

Joy, laughter, and empowerment lead our clients to confidence, mobility, communication, and accomplishment.

Safety

We adhere to the rigorous training, certification and standards established by PATH International, the governing body of therapeutic equine programs, to ensure the safety of our clients and health of our horses.

Activities for Riders of All Abilities

While CHAMP is continuing to provide horse-assisted programs for children and adults with disabilities or other challenges, CHAMP also offers boarding and lessons for able-bodied riders, summer camps for young riders of all abilities age 6 and up, and a variety of other fun events throughout the year.  CHAMP is located at Good Hope Farm in South Hero, Vermont.
