Philosophy
Compassionate, professional Dressage training in Santa Fe. Keene Dressage is about self carriage for horses and their riders. On the way to self carriage, a horse works through stiffness and asymmetry in his body, he finds strength and balance. He learns to focus, to be calm. He takes interest in, and enjoyment from his work.
Training
The first step is always to be sensitive and sincerely listen to the horse. I provide a safe place for horses to be vulnerable, to be courageous. A horse’s willingness to try and participate is a precious, sacred gift. I foster it and treat it with care and respect. It’s the most valuable, joyful part of your relationship with your horse.
Lessons
Self carriage is for riders, too. As with horses, self carriage in riders is physical, mental and emotional. A rider in self carriage is a pleasure for the horse. She gives confidence and provides information and leadership. She influences the greater collection, engagement, suppleness, and expression of her horse.
