Area III Young Riders Program Seeking Selectors

You can make a difference in a young rider’s life! Selectors for the Young Riders Program are responsible for observing and ranking candidates for the Young Riders Eventing Championship teams and may also participate in teaching clinics and camps to Area III Young Riders. Please see this document for a full description of selector responsibilities.

Area III is Recruiting a New Adult Rider Coordinator

The Area III Council is seeking to fill the position of Adult Rider Coordinator for the December 1, 2024 – November 30, 2027 term. Upon selection, the Coordinator-elect will begin learning and working with current volunteers to foster a smooth transition. Please see this document for a complete description of the position duties.

Any adult living in Area III who is a member of USEA may apply. If interested, please self-nominate by emailing usea.area3@gmail.com. Your email should include your contact information and a short background including any experience supporting the position responsibilities. Nominations will be accepted until June 30, 2024. The Area III Council will review and vote on applicants no later than July 31, 2024. (NOTE: If you replied in response to the Adult Rider email recruitment you do not need to re-send.)

The council will consider self-nominations from a single individual or co-coordinators. Co-coordinators will closely work together presenting a single, seamless program to the area members. Co-coordinators will participate in all Area III Council discussions and vote as a single “Adult Riders” vote.

Starter division to be added to 2024 Area III Championships

The USEA has added the Starter division to recognized horse trials, and starting in 2024, Area III will offer a Starter Rider division at the Area III Championships. The championship will be held at Chattahoochee Hills in Fairburn, GA on June 28-30, 2024.

The criteria to qualify follows that of all Area III championship rider divisions: the rider and horse, together as a pair, must place 1st thru 5th at one event with no cross country jump penalties.

The qualifying period for the new 2024 Starter Rider championship division is December 1, 2023 to June 11, 2024.

Area III is recruiting a Championships and Awards Coordinator/Council Secretary

The Area III Council is seeking to fill the position of Championships and Awards Coordinator/Council Secretary for the term of December 1, 2023 – November 30, 2026. Responsibilities of this position will include coordinating Area III Championships and awards, Volunteer Recognition awards, and Leaderboard awards, and monitoring national awards for Area III recipients. New Young Rider Co-coordinators for 2024-2026

Area III is pleased to announce our new Young Riders Program Co-Coordinators for 2024-2026: Jessica Robinette and Joanne Morse. We are grateful to Lee Ann Gilson for filling this role over the past three years, and wish her the best as she enjoys a well-deserved break. Area III Young Riders, parents and coaches can look forward to exciting new activities and programs as Jessica and Joanne step into leadership in December 2023. Please support their efforts and our Young Riders Program - we know our young riders are among the best in the sport and anticipate an amazing 2024 season.
